Wavetec Launches Nexia Consultant: AI Decision Intelligence for Customer Flow Operations
Wavetec has launched Nexia Consultant, an AI decision partner for customer experience operations. Give it a business objective, such as “reduce operating costs by at least 2% while maintaining a 90% SLA,” and Nexia Consultant investigates authorized data, identifies missing constraints, tests the alternatives with Wavetec’s forecasting and simulation engines, and recommends a phased course of action with the expected impact, trade-offs, risks and supporting evidence.
Nexia Consultant is built on the customer flow platform Wavetec has run since 1986. Today its queue management system and customer experience technology operate in more than 30,000 installations across 80+ countries, serving 160+ enterprise clients and 500+ public-sector and mid-sized organizations. That includes 1,220 branches at Banorte in Mexico, Swiss Post’s branch network, 90+ appointment and queue sites at Ontario’s DriveTest, CalPERS in California, Delta Air Lines’ premium lounges, Emirates, BBVA and Al Rajhi Bank. Those four decades of real-world data on how people move through branches, clinics, government offices and airport lounges are what Nexia Consultant reasons with, and what a generic AI tool does not have.
The timing reflects where the market is heading. McKinsey’s Rewiring customer experience for the agentic era finds that customer experience has become the proving ground for agentic AI: 41% of AI deployments in customer-facing functions have fully scaled, making them 3.5 times more likely to scale than deployments in other business domains. The question has moved from “can AI help customer experience?” to “can AI help leaders decide what to change?” Nexia Consultant is Wavetec’s answer.
A Dashboard Shows the Problem. Nexia Consultant Helps you Decide What to Do Next.
Every modern queue management platform can tell a manager where service is slowing down. Some can predict tomorrow’s demand. A few, like Spectra 2.0, can simulate what happens if you change a branch configuration. But the hardest question in operations is still left to people and spreadsheets: what should we actually do?
Nexia Consultant is an enterprise AI decision-intelligence solution. An authorized user describes a business objective in plain language. Nexia structures the problem, proposes the constraints, gathers the relevant context, runs Wavetec’s forecasting and simulation engines against the options, and returns a recommended course of action with the expected impact, trade-offs, risks and supporting evidence. Not another chart. A decision, with its reasoning visible.
How Nexia Consultant works, step by step
1. You state the business objective
A regional operations director types: “Reduce operating costs by at least 2% while maintaining a 90% SLA. Do not reduce priority service for elderly or premium customers.” No scenario configuration, no SQL, no data request to the analytics team.
2. Nexia proposes a decision brief
Instead of interrogating the user with a long questionnaire, Nexia drafts a brief from the objective, the organization’s configured SLAs and its operating policies: a 2% cost target, a 90% SLA floor defined as customers served within the ten-minute waiting target, protected customer segments, a 90-day evaluation window and a pilot across representative branches. The user confirms, edits or asks why any item was suggested. Nexia only asks follow-up questions when the answer would materially change the recommendation, for example whether staff can work across service categories or whether opening hours are flexible.
3. Nexia Reports gathers the context, beyond the queue
This is where most AI assistants fall short, and where Nexia is designed differently. A good operational decision needs more than queue data. Nexia Reports is connected to the systems the organization already runs, including core banking platforms, CRM, ERP, hospital information systems (HIS) and identity systems, and translates questions into governed, validated queries against them.
Nexia Consultant asks Nexia Reports for exactly the context it needs: transaction mix from core banking, customer segments and value from the CRM, appointment and patient data from the HIS, rosters and labor cost from workforce systems, and the full ticket history from Wavetec’s queue platform. Every query is read-only, visible and logged. The result is a single, reconciled picture in which the journey data and the business data answer the same question.
4. Spectra 2.0 forecasts and simulates the alternatives
Nexia Consultant does not ask a language model to guess operational outcomes. It orchestrates Spectra 2.0, Wavetec’s operational intelligence engine:
- AI traffic forecasting projects demand by branch, day and hour from a rolling three-year history enriched with holidays, payroll dates, local events and operational changes, and publishes its accuracy (MAE, RMSE, MAPE) alongside every forecast.
- Inflow simulation is a discrete-event simulator that models arrivals, service-time variability, counter clusters, routing rules and physical waiting-area capacity, running repeated Monte Carlo trials of each configuration.
Behind the scenes, Nexia evaluates dozens to thousands of combinations of shift timing, counter allocation, cross-skilling, appointment distribution and routing logic. Anything that breaks the SLA floor or the protected-customer rules is discarded.
5. You see the scenarios that matter, with their impact
Nexia Consultant presents a visual comparison of the strongest alternatives against today’s operating model. An illustrative output for the objective above might look like this:
| Scenario 1: Staggered shifts | Scenario 2: Cross-skilled counters | Scenario 3: Appointment rebalancing | |
| What changes | Shifts moved to match the forecast peak; midday overlap reduced | Tellers trained across two service categories; clusters pooled | Advisory visits moved into morning and mid-afternoon appointment slots |
| Operating cost | −2.1% | −3.4% | −1.2% |
| SLA (≤10-min wait) | 91% | 90.4% | 94% |
| Protected segments | Maintained | Maintained | Improved |
| Implementation risk | Low | Medium (training needed) | Low |
| Nexia’s view | Meets target; fastest to pilot | Largest saving; SLA close to floor | Below cost target; strongest service gain |
Figures are illustrative, showing the format of a Nexia Consultant output, not results from a customer deployment.
6. Nexia recommends a phased plan
Rather than “remove three counters,” the recommendation is practical: start Scenario 1 in three priority branches, preserve peak-hour coverage, begin cross-training for Scenario 2 in parallel, and review SLA and abandonment after 30 days before extending to 18 more locations. It lists the assumptions it relies on and the indicators to monitor during the pilot. Nothing changes in live operations until an authorized manager approves it.
Architecture: Governed, LLM-agnostic and Enterprise-ready
Nexia Consultant separates what language models are good at from what operational engines must guarantee.
- The large language model interprets the objective, drafts the decision brief, selects the right tools and explains the result.
- Wavetec’s forecasting, simulation and optimization engines calculate the outcomes. Recommendations are grounded in governed data, confirmed constraints and reproducible simulations, not in the model’s general knowledge.
- LLM-agnostic by design. An abstraction layer sits between the decision workflow and the model, so organizations can use a Wavetec-supported model or connect the model already approved in their enterprise AI environment.
- Nexia Consultant runs in the cloud today, and Wavetec is extending it to private-cloud and on-premises deployment for banks, health systems and government agencies whose regulators require data to stay inside their own boundary.
- Security and compliance. Wavetec operates under ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA-aligned practices, with role-based access, authorized data connections, full audit trails and a human-approval step on anything that changes the operation.
“Most AI tools answer the question you ask. Nexia Consultant helps leaders ask the right question, then tests the options against real operational data before recommending anything. The technology does the analytical heavy lifting; the customer stays in control of every decision that matters,” said Asif Bilgrami, Director of AI and Innovation at Wavetec.
Part of the Nexia family
Nexia Consultant is one of five Nexia products. They are peers, not steps on a ladder: each plugs into the same customer flow management core, and they share context with one another.
| Product | What it does |
| Nexia Vision | Recognizes a customer at the door and routes them before they queue. |
| Nexia Reports | Connects to core banking, CRM, ERP and HIS and turns plain-language questions into governed, validated reports and dashboards. |
| Nexia Consultant | Investigates a business objective, compares the options using forecasting and simulation, and recommends the plan. |
| Nexia Journeys | Coordinates approved actions across customers, employees and systems, for example preparing the relationship manager and KYC file before a visit. |
| Nexia Avatar | Guides customers by voice across physical and digital channels, handing off to a person with intent and documents attached. |
A typical flow: Reports connects the enterprise systems, Consultant asks Reports for the context it needs, and Journeys acts on what Consultant recommends, once it is approved. Organizations can start with one product in one branch and add the rest when the business case is proven.
Why Nexia Consultant is Hard to Copy
Anyone can connect a chatbot to a database. What makes Nexia Consultant different is the ground it stands on:
- Four decades of customer-flow data and know-how. Since 1986, Wavetec has run queues for banks, telecom operators, airlines, health systems and governments. That experience defines the KPIs, constraints and service rules Nexia reasons with.
- A native simulation engine. Recommendations come from Spectra 2.0’s own forecasting and discrete-event simulation, validated against actual demand, not from a generic model estimating what might happen.
- Context beyond the queue. Through Nexia Reports, Nexia Consultant reasons across core banking, CRM and HIS data, so a staffing recommendation reflects customer value and transaction mix, not only ticket counts.
- Full-stack ownership. Wavetec builds its own kiosks, displays, queue software and analytics, so the data behind every recommendation is consistent from the ticket printer to the dashboard.
- Scale that is already proven. 30,000+ installations and 160+ enterprise clients mean Nexia is deployed into environments where security reviews, integrations and uptime are already understood.
- Governance built in. Visible evidence, audit trails, LLM choice and human approval are part of the design, which is what regulated enterprises need before they trust AI with operational decisions.
Where Nexia Consultant Fits in Your Queue Management Strategy
A queue management system manages today’s flow. Spectra 2.0 predicts and tests tomorrow’s. Nexia Reports creates and connects the insight. Nexia Consultant advises on the decision. For banks, it can balance teller cost against SLA across a network. For hospitals, it can reduce outpatient waiting time without adding clinical headcount, leaving clinical priority to clinicians. For government service centers and DMVs, it can model renewal-deadline peaks before committing budget to extended hours. For telecom operators, it can decide where self-service kiosks will relieve assisted counters most.
