The expansion builds on the initial deployment and strengthens Wavetec’s long-standing relationship with KCB Group across East Africa
BPR Bank Rwanda, a subsidiary of KCB Group, is expanding its deployment of Wavetec’s Queue Management System to seven additional sites across Rwanda.
The new order follows the initial implementation across six sites, bringing Wavetec’s customer journey management technology to a total of 13 BPR Bank locations. The expansion reflects the bank’s confidence in the existing solution and its ability to support more structured, consistent and measurable customer experiences.
BPR Bank Rwanda is a major commercial bank regulated by the National Bank of Rwanda. According to KCB Group, the bank operates an extensive nationwide network of branches, ATMs, banking agents and merchants, serving customers across Rwanda. Learn more about BPR Bank Rwanda and KCB Group.
By extending Wavetec’s Queue Management System to more locations, BPR Bank can apply consistent customer-flow processes while giving branch teams greater visibility into service demand, waiting times and operational performance.
The project also represents another step in Wavetec’s wider relationship with KCB Group, building on more than a decade of collaboration around queue management, self-service technology and digital customer experiences in East Africa.
Wavetec is a global customer experience and self-service technology company with more than 30,000 systems deployed across over 80 countries.
As a full-stack technology provider, Wavetec combines customer-facing hardware, enterprise queue management software, staff applications, digital signage, appointment scheduling, virtual queuing, integration capabilities, analytics and AI-assisted operational tools.
This integrated model gives financial institutions one technology partner across the full project lifecycle—from customer journey design and hardware deployment to software configuration, enterprise integration, monitoring and after-sales support.
Wavetec’s operations span North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Its global technology platform is supported by regional teams and local partners who understand the operational requirements of individual markets.
For BPR Bank Rwanda, this combination supports consistent technology across the expanding deployment while allowing customer journeys, languages, service categories and reporting requirements to be configured around local banking operations.
A modern banking branch may serve customers requiring account support, deposits, withdrawals, loan services, card assistance, business banking and other financial services. Without structured routing, customers may join the wrong line, gather around service counters or wait without clear information about when they will be served.
Wavetec’s Enterprise Queue Management System organizes this journey from arrival to service completion.
A typical customer journey can include:
This creates a clearer experience for customers and reduces the need for employees to manage physical lines manually.
The precise hardware, integrations and customer touchpoints at each BPR Bank site will depend on the bank’s approved configuration.
At the center of Wavetec’s customer-flow ecosystem is Spectra Queue Management Software.
Spectra connects customer registration, queue routing, counter calling, staff activity and reporting within one coordinated platform. It allows banks to define service categories, assign priority rules and adapt workflows according to the operating model of each location.
The platform can provide operational visibility into:
For branch managers, these insights can help identify immediate service pressure and adjust counter allocation. At the enterprise level, centralized reporting can help management compare locations, recognize recurring demand patterns and make better-informed capacity decisions.
Rather than operating as isolated ticketing systems, the expanded BPR Bank sites can form part of a more connected and measurable customer-service environment.
Digital banking gives customers convenient access to everyday transactions, but branches continue to serve an important purpose for financial advice, problem resolution and services requiring human assistance.
Deloitte’s global banking research found that customer satisfaction with branches can have a stronger influence on overall banking satisfaction than online or mobile channels. This reinforces the need for banks to improve physical and digital channels together rather than treating them as separate experiences. Deloitte’s research on transforming bank branches.
McKinsey estimates that a properly implemented smart-branch model can generate a 60% to 70% improvement in branch effectiveness, measured through cost savings and increased sales. Reaching this potential requires more than installing technology; banks must redesign customer journeys and use operational information to improve how employees and service channels are deployed. McKinsey’s research on branches for the digital age.
BPR Bank’s expanded Queue Management deployment supports this hybrid model by organizing in-branch service while creating data that can guide future operational decisions.
The customer-flow information generated through Wavetec’s platform can also create a foundation for AI-assisted operational planning.
Spectra 2.0 extends conventional queue reporting through live customer-flow analytics, AI demand forecasting and branch simulation.
Using historical operational data, the platform can help organizations estimate how demand may change by location, service, day or time. Managers can use this information to anticipate peak periods and make more informed decisions about staffing and counter capacity.
Simulation capabilities can also allow authorized teams to test proposed operational changes before introducing them into the live branch. For example, a manager could assess how adding a teller, changing a routing rule or reallocating counters may affect waiting times and service-level performance.
These capabilities are part of Wavetec’s broader technology platform and can be introduced according to BPR Bank’s future requirements, available data and approved architecture. Explore Spectra 2.0 and AI Traffic Forecasting.
Wavetec has also introduced Nexia Reports, which allows authorized users to create governed customer-experience reports and dashboards through natural-language prompts. The platform can combine operational questions with approved customer-flow data, helping teams investigate performance without relying only on predefined reports. Learn more about Nexia Reports.
The BPR Bank Rwanda expansion builds on Wavetec’s established relationship with KCB Group.
In Kenya, Wavetec worked with KCB to design and deploy an Electronic Queue Management System that combines customer ticketing, service routing, counter displays, digital signage and centralized reporting. The solution gave the bank greater visibility into branch traffic, waiting times and employee performance. Read the KCB Queue Management case study.
The relationship has continued for more than a decade, supporting KCB’s commitment to improving customer service through queue management, self-service and digital engagement technologies. Explore Wavetec and KCB’s decade of collaboration.
Extending Wavetec’s Queue Management System across additional BPR Bank locations demonstrates how this relationship is supporting KCB Group’s customer-experience objectives beyond Kenya.
The expansion also highlights the scalability of Wavetec’s technology. A platform proven within one part of a regional banking group can be configured for another market while accommodating local languages, services and operating requirements.
Wavetec has delivered customer journey management solutions for financial institutions across Africa.
I&M Bank Kenya uses Wavetec’s Queue Management System, self-service registration and integrated digital signage to guide customers through a more structured branch journey.
At CRDB Bank, Wavetec combined queue management, digital signage and customer feedback solutions to improve service flow and provide management with operational information.
Wavetec has also expanded its presence across West and Central Africa through banking and customer-experience projects, including recent Queue Management deployments for BHCI in Côte d’Ivoire and Ecobank Centrafrique in the Central African Republic.
Together, these projects demonstrate Wavetec’s ability to support financial institutions across different markets through scalable technology, regional delivery expertise and local implementation support.
An enterprise Queue Management System handles operational information about customer visits, service demand, employee activity and system configuration. Appropriate security and governance controls are therefore important.
Wavetec’s organizational security and quality posture is supported by:
The wider platform can also support role-based access, audit logging, centralized administration and controlled user permissions.
These credentials and capabilities support Wavetec’s organizational approach to information security and quality management. Final regulatory compliance depends on BPR Bank’s approved architecture, configuration, data policies and the requirements applicable in Rwanda.
BPR Bank Rwanda’s decision to add seven more sites follows the successful initial deployment of Wavetec’s Queue Management System across six locations.
The expansion signals continued confidence in Wavetec’s technology and creates a broader foundation for consistent customer journeys, centralized operational visibility and data-informed branch management.
It also strengthens Wavetec’s long-standing relationship with KCB Group and demonstrates how a successful technology partnership can expand across markets within a regional banking organization.
As the rollout progresses, Wavetec will continue supporting BPR Bank Rwanda with the technology and regional expertise required to deliver organized, measurable and customer-focused banking experiences.
